A downloadable game for Windows
A magical adventure where you play as a horse and try to help the residents of a desert that's plagued by the sun becoming stronger and stronger!
This is an early playtest of the game, made for the second Tiny Horse Game Jam! I coded and evented, while my teammate Maske provided the amazing sprite and cover art.
Will have multiplayer co-op later (currently re-enabled for testing but very buggy).
Tips if you're Stuck
- Talk to the residents of the Oasis if you can't find your way to the Dune Temple!
- Sometimes, running away from a fight is just as good as trying to win.
- Hydrate to feel all your hurt and exhaustion disappear!
- At level 3, your horse learns the skill Heavy Stomp, which might help you defeat really tough enemies.
- Check out the Options in the menu screen to customize the menu handling and audio volume.
Known Issues
Using Mouse Movement (moving by clicking on the map) is very likely to break the passability of some tiles. Please use keyboard movement to not get stuck in a place you're not meant to be.Fixed in 0.1.5!Multiplayer mode is disabled currently since it wasn't tested thoroughly yet.The sound effects of attacks keep playing when you get defeated in the Canyon.- Please check the ingame Patchnotes (accessible from the Announcements Board in the Dryleaf Oasis) for up to date info!

howdy!! im really interested in playing this one but for some reason, it just endlessly loads no matter if i download straight from itch.io or use their launcher, and i can’t close it through the window bar, only by right-clicking on the taskbar and selecting “end task”. im trying to launch it on windows 11 24h2. let me know if you need any more info to help debug this!
Hi! Thanks for reporting the issue, I've run into this occasionally while playtesting the currently available version on my laptop. While I couldn't reproduce it on my desktop PC, it seems to be related to the asset pre-loading process crashing. Usually, trying again to run the game would fix it (but sometimes it took another try).
In the new version that we're currently working on (which should have been labeled 0.3.0 in the devlog as I've just noticed, not 0.2.0 since that's the currently available version, oops) the issue doesn't seem to happen anymore, or at least much less frequently, after I made some changes to the pre-loading process.
this issue kept popping up no matter how many times i tried to run the game, so ill just keep an eye out and try again once 0.3.0 releases! thank you for the response :>
Sorry to hear that! I do hope that 0.3.0 will fix it on your end as well, definitely appreciate your offer to help with debugging if it still ends up misbehaving. Don't hesitate to let us know if you're having the same problem again after the update is out!
Really like running around as a horse and seeing how you've put a horsey spin on different RPG tropes. I got a bit stuck after my first fight and didn't have much health or money, so thought 'what would a horse do' and was so happy when I struck gold at the pond :D!
Glad to hear you enjoyed the game! I did try to make the game mechanics as intuitive as possible, but I will also be adding an ingame guide/manual in some later update to explain some of the unexplained parts of the game better.
