Version 2.0.alpha


A year after the pretty disastrous first attempt to make this game, I decided that messing with something this broken won't fix it. So I made the game again (almost) from scratch. It's currently being playtested!

Here's the most important changes from the old version:

  • Huge performance improvements
  • Fixed enemy AI
  • The splashscreen animation is now skippable
  • The loading screen now works much better
  • Scenes are now loaded asynchronously (aka more smoothly)
  • Completely reworked forest map
  • Prettier main menu background screen
  • Skipping the in-game intro now skips right after the current dialogue line (instead of displaying the rest of the dialogue "chunk" first)
  • Turning on the Headlights now makes you more visible to the enemy
  • Turning off the engine now makes you less visible to the enemy
  • Made a completely new map
  • Game can now be won by killing the enemy
  • Made player drive faster
  • Removed jumpscare

Also, some notes about this build:

  • The FPS is now clamped at 50 and shouldn't go above it. This is to prevent the physics engine bugging out

And lastly, possible bugs that I'm looking into still:

  • Switching quality settings removes the clouds?
  • Some weirdness with the gun camera and locking the turret
  • The large trees pop in kinda weirdly
  • The enemy sometimes just comes straight at you instead of running away when getting too close
